Yoga – Keeping Me Fit Mentally, Emotionally, Physically, and Spiritually

Yoga has been a big part of my life for several years now and I love it for so many reasons.  It allows me to have ‘me’ time, to move, to stretch, to flow, to challenge my body,  to rest, to just be, to learn, to share, to be with like minded people, to feel supported, to feel strong, to know that pain is just temporary and it will pass, knowing that  by using my breath toxins and emotional baggage is being released, to have fun, to laugh, to enjoy.

Annie’s Wednesday morning pranayama and meditation classes are great for beginners, as well as providing additional technique for experienced practitioners.  I have been able to augment my daily practices with what I have learned there, and consider it time well spent.  For those of you that have never experienced the energy flows that occur with consistent daily practice of pranayama, and the inner silence and peace that comes with long practiced meditation… if you are willing to devote yourself to these practices, you will be rewarded!

YogaBall Fusion Class

I just love this class so much that I wanted to tell you my thoughts.  With the swiss ball, you get such great stretches that are quite different to normal yoga as you have the ball to rest on or push into.  It’s not always easy, in fact I find some parts of it quite hard but that’s why it is so good.  In Yoga, I can cheat in a lot of the movements as I have strong thighs and a very strong back but very weak core and tummy muscles, so instead of using my core I use my back.  With the swiss ball you have to use your core muscles, you can’t cheat and it is a really good workout.  I just love it and come every week, so give it a try… I know you will enjoy it!

As soon as you enter the room, its warm and bright, the outside world is left behind, forgotten temporarily as you choose to have some time for yourself. Crystals are everywhere, there’s dog lying completely relaxed on his mat and he goes by the name of Shadow. Under the windows sits Annie, our yoga teacher extraordinaire. She greets you by name with a friendly welcoming smile. You set up your mat and await the start of class. From there on you are in her skilled hands and she will take you on a journey, from this pose to the next, be it yin or flow, asana or pranayama. You just melt into the experience, you feel every breathe, the air around you caressing your skin, your muscles stretching and lengthening. You are in the moment, following Annie’s voice, watching her show us where to next. She is a wonderful teacher, strong yet gentle, precise yet carefree, forever keeping an eye on you in your practice, making adjustments where needed, friendly helpful suggestions.

This is Annie, our teacher at her best, loving her yoga, along with the rest of us in class.

This is what we come to class for, it is because of her are that we are here, enjoying our time together on our mats.

Thank you Annie, for your time, caring attitude, patience and fun loving approach
